1. Referring authorities contact The Drive giving details of proposed service users and requesting relevant information. The placing authority is offered the opportunity to come to The Drive to view the Home and to discuss the service in terms of the service users needs.
2. A visit is arranged with the placing authority to The Drive.
3. Provisional agreement is reached that the placement appears suitable and the prospective service user meets the criteria.
4. The prospective service user is assessed and a cost fixed according to the assessment, then admission is planned i.e. visits, moving in date.

During the referral process the prospective service users family will be involved. The placement of the service user will include assessments at the current placement and visits to The Drive.

A comprehensive care plan will be developed after assessment, which will cater for all recognised needs of the individual. These will be regularly reviewed and changed as necessary.
